This week, Distrito Artificial displays a new format with the purpose of launching a wider net to the ocean of electronic music in the capital and its surroundings. It is about fishing everything made with passion to move and/or touch the public, regardless of budget, prestige or genre.
Downtown
Two parties downtown offer a powerful antidote to combat the overwhelming valentine type scene prevailing these days.
On Friday 14, the Jungle Selecta Crew of the Parador Análogo will perform in the X-Teresa (Lic. de Verdad 8, Zócalo metro station, $20, 21:00 hours). Pepster will leave more than a few speechless with its sound acrobatics on the turntables; Unknown will shake the boat with its mix of drum’n’bass and techno; Smoke will get the people moving with its two step jungle; Linga and E-Blue will enchant ears with their very fine touches of atmospheric soul and ragga jungle, respectively; while Gogo will recall the rasta spirit from the mic.
On Thursday 20, the hard and undiluted techno will take over the Bar Animal (Bolívar #40, metro Allende, $50, 22:00 hours). Pol Habif will offer an underground and minimal set, while DJ Fortex will add a tribal touch to the night. MK Ultra will be cooking live synthetic and sticky beats.
On the other hand, Paul Van Dyk fans will not doub to pay 300 pesos on Friday 14 to access the resurrected Cine Las Améxicas (Insurgentes Sur #453, Condesa, Chilpancingo metro station, 20:00 hours). Van Dyk has patented a trance / techno style that achieves to be very accessible without becoming fully plain, and this forum promises to be more intimate than the ones hosting him in his previous visits. Karlos Elizondo, Koggi Muji, Fase and Klang accompany him in the billboard.
North
A new space opens its doors to electronic music in Tepotzotlán, Bar Madeira (Av. Benito Juárez, Downtown) Saturday 15 promises a session of eclectic rhythms and textures: J Lomeli will deliver the cosmopolite flavor of acid jazz, Dr. Neurona will prescribe soft yet effective doses of drum’n’bass ambience and Smith Anderson will call to dance with his chill out house. The rendezvous is at 22:00 hours and the cost is 20 pesos (a very accessible tonic to recover from the techno, psycho and progressive party scheduled for the previous night at the same place).
South
If the idea is to dive into the love scene, the option is the Love Technology party (Acoxpa 21, Villa Coapa, 22:00 hours, $70 men and, of course, women free). Ramses, Andreass, Eclypso, Alex and Kally will be on the dance floor, devoted to the wild rhythm of the psychedelic trance. The main attraction will be the presence of Mauricio K of the Noiselab collective, who will resort to his well tuned experience to draw the public into his sets of progressive house. He will be accompanied by Jonas, Tony Lak, Miguel, David and a secret guest on the progre scenario.
